Am I right in supposing that, people who dislike this aspect of the MacOS do so because it is a pain burrowing into multiple file windows? If so, there are two easy solutions you can either choose "as List" from the View menu, or put an alias of your Hard Disk into your Apple Menu Items folder in the System Folder. I've used both, and IMHO there isn't really much to choose between them. I've read in several threads people stating their opinion, that Windows Explorer is much easier, better etc for file navigation & management than the MacOS Finder.
